What is CCA?
Climate Changers Anonymous (CCA) is a Twelve Step fellowship addressing climate change and our relationship with nature.
We are focused on four areas of recovery:
- Taking responsibility for our own environmental impact and the ways in which we ourselves contribute to climate change.
- Facing our fear, grief and despair about what could happen due to climate change and environmental destruction.
- Our relationship with other people’s behavior, including climate change denial.
- Dealing with pain and trauma as the result of environmental catastrophes as they befall us.
CCA as a whole has no opinion on outside issues such as climate change policy, and seeks no controversy. We acknowledge that climate change and environmental destruction involves and affects all of society. Our approach is to start with our own recovery while remaining aware that we are parts of a whole.
At this time we are a small fellowship exploring how to apply Twelve Step recovery to these topics by working the Twelve Steps of Climate Changers Anonymous.
Preamble
Climate Changers Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from despair, inaction, and/or compulsion related to climate change. We believe that Climate Change is a societal illness and that changed attitudes can aid recovery.
We welcome all who want to recover. There are no dues or fees for membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions, neither soliciting nor accepting outside donations. CCA is not affiliated with any public or private organization, political movement, ideology, or religious doctrine. We take no position on outside issues. We neither condemn nor condone any particular lifestyle.
Our primary purpose is to recover from despair, inaction, and compulsion related to climate change, and to carry the message of recovery through the Twelve Steps of CCA to those who still suffer.
